Many companies recognize that they need external expertise for software testing, but are hesitant to commit to long-term agreements with external providers. Needs can vary from minor bottlenecks to critical releases, and it is not always clear how much support is actually required. Testimate’s Proof of Concept model offers a clear and risk-free solution for just such situations.
Proof of Concept (PoC) is a tightly-scoped and goal-oriented testing project designed to address a single clear customer need – for example, the suitability of automation tools, speeding up regression testing, or utilizing external testing expertise in evaluating a specific feature.
A PoC typically lasts 2-3 weeks and is implemented with a fixed scope and pre-agreed cost.
Clear model and concrete results
Testimate has planned and implemented several PoC projects, which have helped develop a clear and cost-effective operating model. Each project is unique, of course, but we are able to accurately predict the different work phases, timing, and, for example, the need for customer involvement.
During the start-up phase, we work with the customer to establish a shared understanding of the project’s objectives, agree on precise schedules, and ensure that the expert has all the necessary information and access rights to carry out the project. The start-up phase usually takes one working day.
During the development phase, the expert carries out the work themselves, such as developing a test automation solution. In addition to more detailed planning, the work includes implementing a concrete testing solution in the customer’s environment and careful documentation. Depending on the scope of the project, this phase lasts 1-2 weeks.
At the conclusion stage, we review the project results and identified follow-up measures together with the customer. We usually reserve one working day for this stage.
Getting to know your new supplier
Traditional testing partnerships often begin with large projects or assignments lasting several months. With the PoC model, customers get immediate access to testing experts without any commitment to continue. PoC lowers the threshold for starting cooperation and provides an opportunity to familiarize yourself with Testimate’s expertise and operating methods at the company and individual testing expert levels.
If the PoC project shows that the collaboration works and the customer gets value from it, we can talk about maybe continuing the collaboration. If, on the other hand, it is decided that there is no need to continue, the customer will still have gained a useful and clearly defined testing package without any commitment, accumulated know-how within the company, and gained the ability to continue implementing the measures themselves.
