Lowell Finland Ltd (formerly Lindorff) is a traditional credit management service company that helps Finnish companies with credit decisions, invoicing and collection. The company serves more than half a million Finns with invoices and debts every year.
In the digital world, software that works reliably and with absolute data security is critical to Lowell’s operations. Testing plays an important role in professional software development – a responsibility that Lowell has also entrusted to Testimate for over 10 years.
Over the years, Testimate’s experts have contributed to the development of various financial or collection solutions, ranging from e-commerce integrations to invoice collection systems. Roles and tasks have varied flexibly as needed by the Lowell team.
Historically important development project
Lowell is currently undergoing a massive, long-term development project in which the company’s core collection system is completely overhauled. The future system will manage numerous processes ranging from voluntary collection to debt settlement and legal recovery. The system will handle huge amounts of data and include a number of integrations with authorities, customers, data providers and even print houses.
The solution is being developed by a software partner who will carry out technical tests on the system to be delivered in parts. Lowell’s in-house team is responsible for acceptance testing – in other words, ensuring that the delivered system meets both user and business process needs. Testimate’s specialist is an important part of Lowell’s testing team.
Testimate’s consultant focuses on test automation development in the project and acts as Test Manager’s right hand, coaching the test team.
“When it comes to implementing a large system, it’s not realistic to expect that the implementing partner does all the testing. Developers are not collection professionals. We gathered an effective team from Lowell’s collection experts to help with the testing,” says Delivery Owner, Senior Program Manager Satu-Maarit Puro, who leads the reform project at Lowell.
“Even with Testimate’s key focus on test automation, the presence of a specialised professional brings extensive added value to the whole team and the project. When testing is done in a planned and mindful manner, testing practices become familiar and visible to the whole project team,” Satu-Maarit continues.
Reliable consultant breaths confidence
An experienced testing consultant is able to take quickly over the reins on client projects. While technical skills are a must, a highly important part of a consultant’s toolkit is fluent communication skills. Dialogue needs to be natural both with technically oriented software developers as well as business and financial professionals.
“Testimate’s consultant has shown exceptional self-direction and conversational skills. Depending on the stakeholder, they are able to adapt their approach and communication in a very flexible manner.”
“I have enjoyed working with a professional with great conversational skills. When ideas are exchanged and challenged, we get new perspectives on what we do. It’s great to work with a consultant who knows their own competence and creates confidence around them,” Satu-Maarit Puro concludes.
